The place was packed with a line out the door but I was in and out in less than half an hour. If this is an indication, turnout will be high.

(3,655 posts)I wanted to get back home and finish my dinner. I stayed through the whole thing last time but didn't feel like doing it this time.
question everything
(48,808 posts)Our suburban precinct had 87 Clinton, 53 Sanders, 2 uncommitted. For a change we had a "ballot" on a small 3x3 piece of papers. Previous years we wrote on a post it.
As for uncommitted, I could not help remembering that Jimmy Carter came second after Uncommitted in the Iowa Caucus.
Oh well.

(6,352 posts)The place was so packed, I thought at first that it must be hosting both the GOP and the DFL caucuses. But it was all DFL! That bodes well, I think.
In 2014, only two of us showed up from my precinct. Tonight, 105! Our vote was 59 for Clinton, 46 for Sanders. When I compared notes with a man from the adjacent precinct, though, he told me their vote had been 72 for Sanders and 65 for Clinton.

(120,858 posts)and I've been going to those things since the '70s. But it was handled very efficiently; I was in and out in about a half-hour.

(28,475 posts)higher than 2008 and at least this time we were better prepared.
BTW Bernie ran away with my Senate district...and it's in the 'burbs. Once upon a time that would never have happened.

(3,655 posts)I was just going to cheer about the 186,646 that showed up last night but looked at 2008 and wiki has the turnout at 214,000. Both numbers are good in my book.
Did you hear the Daily Report today? People were calling in talking about their experience. Most seemed to have enjoyed it. One person was happy to meet their neighbors. One was happy to be a delegate and introduce three resolutions, one that passed. I will have to check out the whole show to hear the rest. It's not the usual material you hear on talk radio.

(3,655 posts)I just looked again and they have upped it to 207,242 and 114,245 for the Repubs.

(28,475 posts)We might see more changes to them.

(19,339 posts)But there was some serious energy last night -- lots of new people, some of whom actually stayed after the preference ballot to vote on resolutions, join committees and stand as delegates. And despite the larger crowds, there weren't a lot of resolutions and the resolutions we did have got little discussion (THANK GOD BECAUSE I HATE THAT SHIT, JUST SEND THEM ALL ON TO THE COUNTY AND LET THEM DEAL WITH IT).
All in all, a success!
