Lake Elmo to sue 3M for pollution-related costs

Lake Elmo is suing the 3M Corp. — again — for allegedly polluting its water and forcing the city to build a clean-water bypass.

The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to sue the company after backing out of another suit against 3M in 2013.

“The two lawsuits are very similar,” said Lake Elmo attorney Doug Shaftel. He said the city has been trying to negotiate with 3M for some reimbursement, without success.

Could not believe they were being dumped in a pit out in Washington County. All of us at the lab assumed this crap was going to a insinuator until we asked the fellow that picked up this crap. Yup,perfectly legal he said. There were zero requirements or restrictions to what could or could not be dumped in that pit. Wonder how many more of these dumps are still hidden from the public.
