Seven accused in embezzlement investigation
TUPELO A total of seven men are now accused of stealing more than $100,000 in merchandise from a Lee County beer distributor.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said his office was contacted June 19 by Mitchell Distributing Company, a Budweiser beer distributor located in the Tupelo Lee Industrial Park South between Verona and Shannon.
They reported multiple incidents of employee theft, Johnson said. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that at least seven suspects were involved with the theft and embezzlement of merchandise owned by the business.
Authorities say six of the seven suspects were employed by Mitchell at the time of the thefts. Five of the seven suspects have been arrested. According to the sheriff, they are still looking for Travares Brown, 38, of Tupelo; and Devonta Orr, 27, of Verona.
