Montana TV station issues bogus emergency zombie alert (VIDEO)

KRTV in Montana is investigating how an apparent hacker commandeered its Emergency Alert System on Monday and informed viewers that a zombie apocalypse was underway.

"Dead bodies are rising from their graves," a voice calmly stated during the station's broadcast of the "Steve Wilkos Show."

Fortunately for residents of north central Montana, the bogus alert did not prove prophetic, and "The Walking Dead" is still just a popular cable TV show.

The alert was quickly pulled, and the Great Falls, Mont., station issued an unintentionally funny apology:

Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that "dead bodies are rising from their graves" in several Montana counties.

This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency.

Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.
