Tornadoes strike Thursday in Oklahoma, no fatalities reported

A handful of tornadoes churned across parts of Oklahoma on Thursday, and thunderstorms cut across the state, rattling nerves and leaving one town without power for hours.

Five confirmed tornadoes hit Oklahoma, according to the National Weather Service in Norman, which issued dozens of severe weather warnings and watches throughout the day.

"The first one was near Duke at 2:02 p.m., and the next one was nine miles southwest of Corn at 3:46 p.m.," said Ryan Barnes, a meteorologist with the NWS.

Two tornadoes followed just west and north of Chester. Another twister hit Waynoka at 4:54 p.m., Barnes said.
