Woman sues University of Oregon over Def Leppard concert injuries

A woman is suing the University of Oregon over injuries she claims to have sustained while attending a rock concert at Matthew Knight Arena in 2016.

The plaintiff, Anne Holder, is seeking $215,213 in damages.

According to the lawsuit filed last week in Lane County Circuit Court, Holder suffered broken teeth, a torn breast implant, bruises and scrapes when she tripped on a metal barrier and fell face-first onto the ground at the arena.

The suit says the incident occurred on Sept. 30, 2016 — the night that British rock band Def Leppard headlined a concert at the arena.

What she paid for the ticket should be one of the easiest items to verify in her case. TexasTowelie Sep 2018 #2

She wants the state of Oregon to pour some serious sugar on her.

It's also possible that is the price she paid if she had premium seating or back stage passes for after the concert. It will be the noneconomic damages that are the easiest to inflate and what will be negotiated in the settlement process.

Ain’t no $800 seats at Matt Knight. She’s inflating the hell out of all of it, I imagine. I don’t dispute that she’s been wronged - it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Phil Knight asked his architects to place random hazards about the place - he’s that much of an asshole.

I'm sure that there will be some type of settlement arranged among all of the parties involved because there aren't many plaintiff attorneys that will take the risk on a case in court that could render a much smaller verdict amount. She does deserve to be compensated for his loss since the article alleges negligence--whether it arises to gross negligence would take some pretty damning evidence (break out the tapes and the emails).

There are a lot of worthy stories (and some hilarious ones also) happening across the country that aren't carried on the major media outlets. I've learned a lot myself by monitoring local media and alternative media sites so when I see something of interest I'll post it.

Finally, let me take this opportunity to welcome you to DU!
