Democrat Tobias Read has a six point lead over Republican Dennis Linthicum for Oregon Secretary of State
Voters in the Beaver State appear poised to keep the Office of the Secretary of State in Democratic hands this November, despite Republican efforts to put the contest in play following the resignation of Democratic incumbent Shemia Fagan last year.
Three candidates are on the November ballot competing for the position: Current Treasurer Tobias Read, a Democrat, Republican Dennis Linthicum, and Pacific Green Party candidate Nathalie Paravicini. Our Oregon electoral survey found that Read has a six point advantage over Linthicum, with Paravicini far behind in third place.
44% of the 716 likely Oregon voters surveyed by Public Policy Polling last week for NPI said that they were voting for Read, while 38% said they were voting for Linthicum. 3% said they were voting for Paravicini. 15% said they were not sure.
Read already has years of executive department experience.
