One company is doing "pop-up" chicken sales, and these sales are a way to fill up a freezer:
House of Raeford chicken truck sales this week: Oxford, Knightdale, Creedmoor & more
Massive line forms for yet another Raeford Farms surplus chicken sale

In case the news links get pushed out, plus I thought about it, and just dropping links with no explanation might be considered rude, which is absolutely not my intent.
Below is from the company, but the schedule is updated there, and might not be at the news links:
Chicken Sales Schedule House of Raeford Farms Meeting the Community Chicken Demand
House of Raeford has decided to get creative and bring their premier chicken products to areas easily serviced by our locations. Refrigerated trailers stationed in designated areas provide easy pickup for customers looking for everything from boneless breast and thighs to tenders and wings. While practicing social distancing, individuals never leave their car House of Raeford personnel safely take the order, receive payment, and deliver the fresh product to the customers vehicle.
We are selling 40 pound cases of fresh chicken (unless otherwise noted). See location schedule below for available products and prices. Cash Only!
Look for locations, dates, and products posted here below and on the House of Raeford Farms Facebook page. We know it has been difficult in recent weeks to not only find, but also in some cases afford, certain food products. We hope this opportunity will be helpful to families as our nation continues to face a challenge over the next several weeks.
I hope this can help someone...

(612 posts)But these trucks are going into many rural areas that are more isolated, and having more issues with empty meat cases. For those that have a few dollars left (or can pool funds), they can get some really good deals.
I'm just trying to help. There are those that are having problems and those who are not. The lines at every one of these sites certainly signify that there is a demand...
