Celebrating Water

February 21, 2014
journal-news.net

The 24th annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting festival kicked off Thursday at the Country Inn. The largest and longest-running water tasting in the world, the festival this year features several dozen entries, including waters from more than 20 states and across Canada, as well as Bosnia, China, Germany, Greece, Japan, New Zealand, Tanzania, Thailand, Serbia and South Korea. Waters in five categories are judged on the basis of appearance, odor, flavor, mouthfeel and aftertaste. A people's choice award is also given for package design. The festival will continue in Berkeley Springs through Sunday

Yes slightly cloudy appearance with a lovely bouquet of licorice. Slight tingling and burning on the tongue with acid overtones.

I know this isn't the Charleston area but I still find it ironic and a little disturbing this state is hosting this contest. Bizarre.

Water here (private community well & company) is terrible, have to buy bottled for drinking. The best water I ever tasted was from a roof water catchment system that was filtered and run through reverse osmosis. Just pure and wonderful.

$650,000 + $112,000 = $762,000 to test water in 10 homes = $76,200 per home
or, $762,000 to text 600 samples = $1,270 per sample tested
