(17,502 posts)having his VP is bad enough. With his fear of horses, according to former Mexican President Fox, he wouldn't fit in. Perhaps a nice pad on Park Avenue is really more his style than his ersatz ranch.

(4,917 posts)And by cowboys I mean people who wear cowboy hats, belt buckles, live in Dallas, and work in IT.

(36,974 posts)A lot less cowboy hats here than there was in the 70s and 80s.
And as far as Dallas goes - Obama won Dallas County in 2008 and 2012.
Fort Worth is still RED but our other big cities/counties (Austin/Travis, Dallas/Dallas, Houston/Harris, etc) are now blue

(4,917 posts)I'm not hating, just having a bit of fun. Jim Hightower wears a cowboy hat.

(12,287 posts)Most aren't wearing the hat- maybe when they dress up for Cowboy Church or go to town. I usually see them at a local (rural) store/deli/gas station. Out in the parking lot will be one or more well used pickups with trailers containing tacked up horses and dogs.
They are wearing work shirts and jackets (Carhart) worn boots with spurs and chaps, with gimme caps to top off the ensemble.
These men are independent contractors who work cows for anyone who will pay them. Few ranchers could justify keeping them on the payroll permanently.
The ones you see in Dallas with the hats, fancy shirts and boots are G.W.B. wanna bes. Back when I was young the only thing they rode was a drug store stool- AKA drug store cowboy.
