The Opposition should be on a straight winning streak to the next election - Tony Abbott is the most unpopular leader in our history after less than a year in government. The federal budget has offended and angered everybody but the 1%, and all the Opposition leader has to do is keep Abbott in his sights and let him have it.
But too often, Bill Shorten is absent or silent when Abbott announces yet another policy zinger. And when he does speak, his voice is weak and his words ineffectual. Another triumph for the right-wing of the Labor Party - they're almost as good as the Libs when it comes to choosing losers to represent us. The only thing they care about is having a fellow right-winger in power.
Hey, guys take a look at Tony Burke! He's one of you, but he can actually use his words and his wit very effectively. Time to give him a go! But no they'd rather given Abbott a second term than admit they got it horribly wrong when they put Shorten into the leadership.
First Dog on the Moon sums it up perfectly:

(6,384 posts)They don't quite get the concept of "one man, one vote". All they have to do is "weight" the votes of Caucus members and then put pressure on them to vote the "Right" way.
Result? Their man, who will do just what he's told to do. And too often, the Labor right-wing is barely discernible from a Tory.

(36,142 posts)I agree. The Opposition needs a leader who isn't invisible nearly as badly as we need Abbott and his gang to be gone as soon as possible...
