The ones that are supposed to have mercury in them and you just don't throw them out or let them break at all?

EPA recommends that consumers take advantage of available local options for recycling CFLs, fluorescent bulbs and other bulbs that contain mercury, and all other household hazardous wastes, rather than disposing of them in regular household trash.

(18,219 posts)to take them. If you have a Lowe's, you might ask them if they have one too or if they take them. If you don't have a Lowe's, ask any hardware store or other store that sells the fluorescent lights if they recycle them.

On CFLs check with your local towns they should have a toxic garbage day where you drop them off. keep them outside + dont break them.
