Household Hints & Help
Related: About this forumI want to replace my kitchen recessed light bulbs
They are 45W dimmable flood lamps and they get HOT!!
I'm looking for an LED replacement in warm white that are quiet. I've read some LED bulbs make a buzzing sounds when dimmed.
Thanks.
ON EDIT...I just learned the dimmer itself can cause buzzing.

(32,536 posts)the kitchen block of bulbs sometimes delays up to 10 seconds before they go on.

(2,559 posts)Since they tend to use 25% or less wattage than comparable incandescents with same light output, they should stay a lot cooler, as well as save on your electricity bill.
I generally don't have my lights on dimmers. However I have noticed that newer higher light output LED bulbs tend to create more static on nearby FM radios.
An alternative to LED bulbs are CFL versions. These tend to be quieter than LED's, but they have their own issues: not as energy efficient, run a little hotter, have to warm up for full light output, shorter bulb lifespan than LED, contain toxic mercury, etc...

I'm thinking warm because I don't care for that blue light look.

(4,298 posts)You can just use the LED replacement bulbs but I like the looks of the conversion kits better and they put out more light. All the big box DIY stores carry them.
