iTunes 11 is Available!

iTunes 11 has finally arrived, nearly a month after it was originally promised because of the need to "get it right" according to Apple. The app promises a redesigned store, simplified layout, and more.

New icon:

New Features:

- Bye, Bye Sidebar (I'll miss you!)
- Redeem gift cards by taking a picture of it (iOS and Mac cameras), woot!
- New minimized player with added functionality.
- Bye, Bye Cover Flow, hey there Expanded view, with color matching and album art.
- Bye, Bye Party Shuffle, new is 'Up Next'.
- Streamlined AirPlay to AppleTV.

Swoon, I think I am in love.

But I also do not have a smartphone, a second computer, or an iPod, or Facebook, or Twitter.

Sort of a neanderthal in terms of technology.

5. The sidebar is there, just hidden. I did the redeem gift card with the camera trick.

Worked perfectly. No more typing in that 20+ character code.

I never use cover flow on my Mac anywhere. It's more interesting on my iPhone.

Up Next is a killer feature.

cut and paste it into the search window, it doesn't slow my computer to a crawl and lock up the mouse in iTunes. I do have a ridiculous amount of music in iTunes, in a sane person's music collection the way search works in iTunes 11 would probably not be an issue.

as I neither love it or hate it. I do dislike Apple's way of not telling you in advance what features won't be kept in an app. I really did like Cover Flow.
Anyway I upgraded to iTunes 11 and it's too hard to got back to 10.7, so I'll stick with 11.
