Related: About this forumDisc drive for MacBook Air
I recently found a bunch of discs with photos I took years ago. I would love to view them but unfortunately my MacBook Air doesn't have an optical drive. I have been looking at different dvd drives for macs but I don't think I can use the Apple SuperDrive because I only have usb-c ports. Does anyone have any recommendations for one that works with Airs?

(12,902 posts)I got a CD/DVD drive from them to use with my MacBook Pro, which has only Thunderbolt/USB-C ports. The drive connects with USB 2.0, so I use an adapter to connect it to the computer. Works great, no perceptible latency.
Thank you! Guess I'll just need to buy an adapter then

(1,929 posts)I've not checked the prices, but I'd expect to pay a premium for a native USB-C optical drive. The adapters to get an older one to work are going for under $10 ... not a recommendation, but fyi!

(1,929 posts)Reminder to self, google first, then reply. The native drives are as cheap as the older USB style drives.
There are at least a couple that have both kinds of plugs on their cables. See the entries on https://www.rswebsols.com/reviews/product-reviews/top-10-best-selling-external-optical-drives
