You need a way to get the picture's URL. If you could get that you wouldn't need to upload it anywhere.

Or if using Google image search, just highlight, copy and paste the URL from my search.

If you click and hold on an image, you get two buttons: "Save Image" and "Copy." I always thought "Copy" was to copy the image itself, but apparently it copies the image URL.

So that should do it. Thanks.

I clicked and held an image in a page opened in Safari.

I just tried a few times to paste it into a DU post window (like the one I am using to post this) but with no success.

Did you get it to work? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

In Firefox:

Right Click/Copy Image Location (gets the picture's URL onto my clipboard)

Left Click/Paste (pastes image URL)

I hover on the image and get two menu choices in a window otherwise like yours. I get Copy and Save Image. The options to Open, Open In New Tab, and Add to Reading List don't appear.

Anyway, I choose Copy.

Then I return to this post and hover in the window, get the magnifying glass, and select Paste.

Nothing happens.

Press on image. Select copy.

Open a new tab in Safari or go to a text program.

Paste and voila, you see the path for the image. Copy that text and paste it anywhere.

Dunno why you have to paste it somewhere first, but you do.

You can't copy an image's address and paste it straight into a post on DU.

I don't have a special iPad!

Touch image until save/copy appear. Keep touching it until the dialog in my screenshot open.
