http://www.mamamia.com.au/relationships/every-coin-has-two-sides-the-sex-industry/I work for myself. I have no pimp, no manager, no brothel. Just me and a few advertisements dotted around the place, but I am being forced into this?
No. Really I am not. And to say that I am, is insulting and ignorant.

I do not believe a single one of these people is exploiting me or using me or treating me as just an object. To say that is almost like saying that I, as a woman, am not allowed to enjoy or be promiscuous with my sex life because enjoyable non-relationship sex is purely mens territory and anyway men only want sex to use women. It is highly insulting to every single one of them (and to me) to make that claim. I chose the job that suits my needs.
Once again I will state that this job is my choice and I f*cking love every damn second of it. To claim I do not is ridiculous.

(6,801 posts)The extreme right and extreme left have both convinced themselves sex is icky. Anyone who enjoys it must be lying to themselves and in need of rescue.
I expect a backlash of articles claiming women aren't capable of making such decisions (because of the Patriarchy of course).
Either way its a sick ideology based on infantalizing adults for the sake of controlling them.

I think of it as evolution at work.

(6,801 posts)on the far left it takes a multitude of forms, most prominently the rad-fem movement.
Take out the justifications (god/the patriarch/sin/objectification/etc) and the arguments are the same: lists of what consenting adults should *not* be allowed to do because the speaker has some personal issue with those behaviors.
/at least those on the far right don't try to prohibit all PIV sex. Just those between unmarried individuals. Or those of different religions. The really kooky arguments on this actually come from the left: sincere pleas that PIV intercourse is an entirely traumatic, unenjoyable, and unnatural construct of the Patriarchy to keep women down. I wish I were creative enough to make that up.

(9,709 posts)love the way she talked about her disabled client, Phil, and how she had other such clients who got their only sexual intimacy through paying. I'm sure there are literally millions of cases like Phil..and it's an issue the anti-sex worker crowd likes to dance around.
Then her conclusion says it all..

(6,801 posts)Real feminists are about choice.
A great many people use that label but shouldn't. They rail against porn and consensual sex and try to enforce their opinions on other women.
The are fascists, not feminists. They talk about womens rights but really all they want is to control other adults.
/to the jury: ignore what my alerter writes about me. I am not bashing feminists, only the faux ones that claim porn is rape and seek to restrict and shame adults for enjoying sex.

(16,399 posts)According to some of our friends here, that disabled client is part of the male entitlement culture who believes they have a right to sexual gratification. Instead, they should be settling for hugs from friends and family, and if they die a virgin, tough toenails, the desire to have sex should never trump the need to destroy the patriarchy.
The posts are here somewhere.
