Jeff N. Cruz Named Director of the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs

March 5, 2021 – Washington, DC – National Labor Relations Board Chairman Lauren McFerran announced today the appointment of Jeff N. Cruz to serve as Director of the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs.

Mr. Cruz has wide-ranging policy and public affairs experience gained in high-level positions in the Senate, the House, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and in a variety of nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Senate Budget Committee. Mr. Cruz previously worked as a lead staffer on labor and pension issues for a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.

Mr. Cruz has a Master in Public Administration degree from the Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government. He earned his undergraduate degree, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The Office of Congressional and Public Affairs is one of the five original NLRB divisions established in 1935, and it is the official gateway through which the media, the public, and Congress learn about the Agency’s activities.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
