Flight attendants fear being 'punched in the face' over mask enforcement, union president says
Source: CNBC
Flight attendants enforcing mask mandates onboard are worried about physical attacks from travelers, Sara Nelson, international president of the Association of Flight Attendants, told CNBCs Squawk Box on Monday.
The Transportation Security Administration announced Thursday it would double fines for passengers who refuse to comply with the federal mask mandate for air travel. The union president said the TSAs updated policy could help address more mask-related conflicts in the airport, thereby reducing issues for flight attendants to handle on the plane.
Were concerned every single day when we go to work and put that uniform on, are we the target and going to be punched in the face today, Nelson said.
Flight attendants have long been tasked with policing safety rules and regulations in flight, Nelson said, but theyve experienced an uptick in conflicts stemming from mask mandates. The Federal Aviation Administration said July 7 that mask requirements comprised 75% of its unruly passenger complaints since the start of 2021.

The mouthbreathing Covidiots shouldn't even be allowed in the airports, much less the planes

from the roughest bars in all major cities.

I'm almost 6'6" and about 275, I would NOT want that job.

(57,517 posts)3. It should be a law that if you touch a flight attendant in anger...
you go to jail once the flight lands. No exceptions. And what happened to the sky marshals, they cut out that policy? If they were on board they would be the perfect ones to handle unruly assholes.
And added to the no fly list permanently.

You touch a member of the flight crew and life as you know it is over. All you will have left is your $50 MAGAT hat.
