Burundi's president says gay people should be stoned

BUJUMBURA, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Burundi's President Evariste Ndayishimiye has called on citizens to stone gay people, escalating a crackdown on sexual minorities in a country where LGBT people already face social ostracism and jail terms of up to two years if convicted of same-sex offences.

"If you want to attract a curse to the country, accept homosexuality," Ndayishimiye said in a question and answer session with journalists and the public held in Burundi's east on Friday.

"I even think that these people, if we find them in Burundi, it is better to lead them to a stadium and stone them. And that cannot be a sin," he said, describing homosexuality as imported from the West.

His comments were the latest show of widening intolerance of LGBT people in the region.

... what someone's religion is, what country they live in, or what rigid, mindless social strictures hang over them, exhorting people to do harm to others simply because they don't conform to intolerant standards dictated by malevolent politicians only able to maintain control through division and fear is what's REALLY intolerable.
If you want to stone someone, you malicious old bastard, Ndayishimiye, go after those American evangelicals poisoning your country. THEY are the evil ones, not your own citizens who were BORN gay.
For the record, I'm an old, straight, married white guy with relatives who do not share my melanin deficiency, and who are very dear to me. One is gay. And anyone foolish enough to threaten them for ANY reason would find out the hard way what savage retribution feels like. I have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to sanctimonious bigots, which is all these evangelicals are.
