I need to find someone to explain this textbook to me.
Is there some group or organisation out there to help understand this?
The damage I have in my brain makes it hard to get my head around all this. I just got Medicare in 2021 this is my first rodeo.

(168 posts)Hi,
I don't know where you live. Here are some options, you may need to call around. If they can't help you, ask them to direct you to resources. Explain that you are disabled and need assistance.
1) senior centers may have health advisors
2) your local city or county should have a commission for senior services and a commission for the disabled
3) your existing health plan provider- I assume that you may be receiving health services either from a public health department or a private company. Or you indicated that you are on Medicare. So I don't know what your questions are. So, definitely call your current health plan group
4) your primary physician's office
5) your local council person's office -for resources.
Hope this helps

(1,227 posts)I hope the book clearly states this point.
There is much confusion about Medicare Advantage encroaching onto the Medicare brand, because the two programs are different. I've contacted Rep. Katie Porter and NY Sen. Kirstin Gillibrand and asked them to investigate this problem and to introduce legislation to force the Advantage sector to relabel itself.

(6,561 posts)They are an all volunteer organization, and they were a great help to me. You can find out which group is available in your state by going to this Medicare link: https://www.shiphelp.org/
Here's a snip from Medicare's site about these state resources:
SHIPs are state programs that get money from the federal government to give local health insurance counseling to people with Medicare. SHIPs arent connected to any insurance company or health plan. They provide free, personalized counseling to you and your family to help with these and other Medicare questions:
Your Medicare rights
Billing problems
Complaints about your medical care or treatment
How Medicare works with other insurance
Finding help paying for your health care costs
