Do you recommend Roku over the Apple device like it?

And if I have a smart TV do I really need Roku?

I finally got rid of Spectrum which kept raising my rates and double billing me.
So I am looking for an alternative, I don't watch TV but I do like to watch movies.

True fact: I found my first streaming device on with a flatscreen TV left out for grabs in front of someone’s. The label said everything worked and that it was free for the taking. So I did. That’s why I have Roku.

It works for me. New units are only about $25 or $30 at Best Buy. What have you got to use?

As for smart TV, you’ll probably find it easier to upgrade an external device than one that is built into the TV. I have a smart TV, but the built in streaming feature is way outdated and cannot be upgraded.

5. FWIW, I have a Sony 4K OLED Smart TV, and

I prefer Roku over the built-in stuff in my TV. The interface is much easier to use and I've found the picture quality and sound to be superior to the streamer built into the TV. I have an Amazon Firestick on this TV, too, and I prefer Roku over that as well. I bit the bullet and bought the top of the line Roku Ultra. It has been an awesome streaming device. You could get one of the inexpensive Roku sticks and test it out. You might be surprised at how much better it is! And if not, it wasn't a major investment.

Roku gets better reviews than the Amazon Firestick, but I still wasn't sure which one to buy.
I am going to give Roku a try.
