The Groove Tube (1974)

You might need to be a certain age to fully appreciate this film.

I am.

It was the first X-rated film I ever saw and the first one I drove myself to after I got my license. It also almost steered me into a film career (should've, would've, could've). Someone has finally uploaded the entire uncut film onto YouTube. I share it here for your enjoyment -- crude, vulgar, and sophomoric (dated) humor at its very finest.

BTW, some pundits declare it may be the precursor, or at least influencer, to the sketch comedy of Saturday Night Live that was to debut a year later (should you need further rationale to invest 98 minutes of your time).

Ken Shapiro, producer, director and star, was a comedic genius IMO. RIP.

With Richard Belzer and Chevy Chase.

I love the dancing man too, though I can't make the connection to TV.

Kentucky Fried Movie was also a skit-based film. It pretty much started the careers of John Landis, the Zucker brothers, and Jim Abrahams.

Some of the bits have not aged well, but they are still wildly funny and were very cutting-edge.
