(22,886 posts)...Trump makes a sober life even more difficult because he does so much damage to the fabric of our society that the pains extend throughout our nation.

And those who were in long recovery before that, how many have relapsed?
I have imaged Mueller/his team on a few significant nights with a single malt scotch (not my thing so it doesn't pull on me) enjoying their work coming to fruition. 'Normies' can stop after the one glass, and, sometimes I wish I could as well. Fizzy water with lime when the apricot hellbeast leaves.

(15,145 posts)I know I must maintain my faculties at peak performance, remain as clear-headed as possible so I can function in whatever limited means I may to protect what I love. This is a time when clear-thinking and good judgment are de rigueur. The pain of Trumpism makes such indulgence exceptionally destructive.

(3,163 posts)Drinking because you don't like the president is bullshit and you all know it. Staying sober is a serious business. I've been doing it for more than 35 years and I haven't done it by making jokes about it. I've seen plenty of people who made jokes about it die drunk.
Sobriety is an inside job. Whoever is in the White House neither weakens or strengthens one's sobriety. There are twelve steps in that process, and all of them address the inner condition.

There are differences in how each user responds to the outside world. I can respect your POV, how you gained & maintain your sobriety is your history.
The way I'm working my program & sobriety is mine. Humor is a large part of it.
