Just got home from a great womens meeting. There is a regular meeting in the same spot tomorrow, Im going to check it out.
Im glad to be here and to be clean today. I am grateful for my family, my boss, her husband, and my coworkers. They dont fully get it, but they couldnt be more supportive. I truly fortunate to be so blessed.

(6,639 posts)Extremely difficult at first, easier with time. I happen to know that you can do this, one day at a time.

(222,223 posts)And that's where I met my sponsor, a wonderful woman who took me to meetings and told me what to do. And earlier tonight I led a meeting myself where someone came in for the first time. That's what works, paying it forward, and meeting with others who've been there and understand. Kudos on your sobriety and the willingness to reach out to others who understand and can help. You can do it if I did...

(38,726 posts)In the end of the meeting, they held hands and said something like a prayer. So...I thought they were NUTS!!
So, I was sure that I could lose the weight myself...Over the summer, I was on vacation..(that is when I went to the meeting)
so, I lost a lot of weight in the summer. When my job started in September, (I was a high school teacher) I started eating
again, and again, and again. I gained all the weight back.
Next summer I weighed 216, and I am 5 foot 6 and one half. ...So, I tried Overeaters Anonymous again. I took off all the weight
that I had gained, and I kept it off for more than 40 years. Today I weigh 152.
............. Overeaters Anonymous saved my life....I pray every day, and try to stay in touch with some members of the
program. I need to go to meetings again, but these times are tough for me. Masks, Covid, Meetings with lots of people &
so on. Yes, I pray every day, and am at a normal weight. I am very lucky to be alive.
.....Try a 12 Step Meeting like AA, NA, OA or whatever. If you don't like that meeting, go to another meeting. There are
usually plenty of meetings in an area. The key is very simple.... ..........DON'T EVER GIVE UP......!!!!
....You would think that it is EASY.. Well, it isn't. Life is not easy, and changing one's life is not easy. I think about
the 12 Step program every day, and many times a day. I have met some wonderful people at the meetings. Give it a try,
and please..........DON'T GIVE UP....(i am in my 70s and I didn't give up...Thanks for reading this.
