Please keep a friend of mine in your thoughts tomorrow

He is having surgery because of lung cancer tomorrow. My friend quit smoking eight years ago and is so depressed. He has made it through chemo. I am telling him the surgery is another battle he will win.

When I was going through treatment for breast cancer I thought then and still do that the people praying or sending positive vibes my way helped. My cancer didn't show up on mammograms and when I felt a tiny lump I went to the doctor. It turned out my right breast was all tumor.

We go through treatment together. My candles are lit every night for people fighting cancer and those who are no longer with us. It can't hurt and it may help.

My wife had breast cancer 8 yrs ago. Right now, we are awaiting CT scan and bonescan results. Sonogram yesterday showed lesions on her liver. She's pretty ill right now. Fingers crossed.

I am hoping everything will be ok. Please keep us posted. I often wonder if we spent as much on cancer research and finding a cure as we do on wars if cancer would become a distant, albeit bad, memory. Did they tell you when they would have the results?

....we do the bone scan in the morning (they had to order the dyes). I don't remember how long it takes to get results from either test. I know they can identify hot spots on a bone scan almost immediately, in most cases. Whether or not they will tell you is anyone's guess.

My step-dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last week, but it was caught early and he has already began radiation. Prognosis is very good for him.

We have been paying $25,000/yr in insurance premiums just in case something like this happened. We considered cancelling and waiting six months to get on the federal high-risk ins. program to lower the costs of healthcare. But, had we done that, look where we would have been.

I am thankful you have insurance. I am glad to hear about your step-dad. Radiation, as you know, can zap you but it is better than the alternative. I will be thinking of you and your wife in the morning and pray the news will be good.

My partner was diagnosed with breast cancer and bone mets three weeks ago. She has always been so healthy ... it came out of the clear blue sky. We're adjusting to the new world we've entered. Please let your wife and your friend know that we send our best to them and their families.

We, in turn, will add both individuals to our intentions to the candle we are burning.

I just saw my neighbor doing his yard cleanup. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer over seven years ago. He had the surgery and treatments and today?...well he had 12 bags of leaves at the curb and was playing with his dog.

I'm the anecdotal breast cancer survivor. It sucks but keep looking past each level of treatment to the finish. When it's over you can celebrate!

I will talk to him later today again and will see him tomorrow.

Thank all of you for your concern. My friend's wife thanks all of you also. People, although not in here, sometimes forget the care takers suffer just as much in their own way as the patient. My friend was very groggy.
