Looks like I have Familial transthyretin amyloidosis.

It's an orphan disease and pretty rare. My brother has it and looks like what my dad had too.
Looks like there is one clinic for it here in Michigan. Brother is getting a DNA test to make sure. Dad made it to 90, but blind and couldn't walk and kidney failure got him.
Looks like a couple of new meds are out now. Other than that a liver transplant is the most common cure.
I'm thrilled to be in the shape I'm in for my age. Another 20 years would be great.
