Idaho woman shares 19-day miscarriage on TikTok

Idaho woman shares 19-day miscarriage on TikTok, says state's abortion laws prevented her from getting care

An Idaho woman who documented her 19-day miscarriage on social media said it was days before she could receive care due to the state's strict abortion laws.

Carmen Broesder, 35, from Nampa -- 20 miles west of Boise -- a mother-of-one was just six weeks pregnant when she began miscarrying on Dec. 8. However, she said it took eight days before she was given any medicine to manage her pain and to expel embryonic tissue, and several more days for the miscarriage to end.

In a series of TikTok videos -- along with medical records, photos and videos shared with ABC News -- she said that despite bleeding heavily and suffering intense cramps, she was denied a dilation and curettage, or D&C, which removes tissue from inside the uterus, multiple times. Because a D&C can also be used when providing abortion care, she told ABC News she believes it's directly tied to Idaho's abortion ban.

"Why should I get to death's door to get help?" Broesder said. "I am prepared to be a mother. I am a mother and I wanted to have another baby. That is my story and it almost killed me." Because a D&C can also be used when providing abortion care, she told ABC News she believes it's directly tied to Idaho's abortion ban.

It makes me indescribably angry that a bunch of semi-literate, narrow-minded nimrods in multiple state legislators have taken it upon themselves to play both God and doctor simultaneously and make laws dictating the health care decisions actual health care professionals are allowed to make for their patients. In what universe does it make one iota of sense for people with no medical credentials whatsoever to have that power? It's absolutely insane!

Fuck the state legislators in Idaho, Texas, and every other state who are responsible for these ridiculous laws, and fuck every governor who signs this garbage into law! Fuck Smirking Sam Alito, Creepy Clarence Thomas, Nasty Neil Gorsuch, Beer Breath Kavanaugh, Airhead Coney Barrett, and their ringleader, Ratface John Roberts for overturning Roe! Fuck Donald Trump for nominating 3 of the 6, and fuck Mitch McConnell extra hard for blocking Merrick Garland's nomination and making sure that Trump's gruesome threesome got rushed through and seated superfast! Fuck anyone who had anything to do with creating this nightmare hellscape, and especially fuck every single Republican in the House and Senate who is pushing for a nationwide abortion ban so that these horror stories can start appearing in a city near you, even if you live in a blue state! FUCK THEM ALL.

......beautiful and creative phrases like “ semi-literate, narrow-minded nimrods”. Nicely done. Haven’t heard the word “nimrod” in a long time. You’ve described most anti-choice state legislators perfectly. Their success in getting into public office is due to their appeal to dumb voters and is DESPITE their lack of critical thinking on just about all issues. Nimrods indeed.

Jesus-freak Republiklans. They need to read the bible and in particular the words and myths of Jesus, then follow that advice. Once they do, then they could negotiate which parts of their religion make sense to institute policy.

If they really read and comprehend the bible, they would be conservatives

This is why I am beyond angry. This goes on across the country time and again. It frightens me to think of anyone I love getting pregnant in this country. It isn’t safe here! When will people wake up.

for a routine appointment when pregnant for the second time. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I was so hopeful the send time around. I was just shy of 12 weeks along at that appointment when my doctor told my husband and me there was a problem with the heartbeat….it was slow and sluggish. I went in two days later and the heartbeat had stopped. The fetus was dead. It took another 4 days to get a d&c procedure. Only 4 days…but that 4 days was torture knowing I was carrying something that was dead. I cannot imagine that woman’s pain and suffering. My heart is with her and every pregnant person who is tortured like this.

that retaining dead fetal tissue can lead to an infection that destroys a woman's chance of ever having another child, even if it falls short of killing her outright (which seems to be their aim).

These jerkfaces aren't just outlawing abortion in the name of "life." (Which would be bad enough.) They're passing such sloppily worded legislation that nobody (even the lawyers in the hospital legal depts.) is really sure what's allowed and what isn't, and they're making the penalties for breaking their stupid laws so severe that everyone is afraid to take a chance on providing any meaningful health care to people who are in dire straits.

I'm not quite cynical enough to believe they're all doing it on purpose (although maybe some of them are, who knows). I suspect that this is mainly due to the the fact that human reproduction is a hell of a lot more complicated than they think it is and they're too stupid to realize how much they don't know. They figure, hey, everybody knows where babies come from, what else could we possibly need to know? And they write laws that are too vague and simplistic to apply to real life situations that are complex and nuanced. And when they create these nightmare situations, they're not really motivated to do anything about it, because the only thing that really matters to them is preventing abortions. Whether people suffer as a result is of no concern to them.

They just raise their eyes up to the sky and maunder on about how suffering is a part of life and their lord JC suffered and as long as it's only women they don't know who are doing all the suffering, their fucking piety is intact.

Anybody out there wears his religion on his sleeve, he has NOT got my vote.
