Seems the old 901 attys aren't in vogue any more, so spent some time researching and ended up with a Joye eGo-C. I like the fact that the atty cores can be replaced without the whole unit having to be purchased and the tank thing is really cool.

Just got this today and got it all charged up and WOW. It is awesome. So much more light weight than the Icon (and my Protoge was like dragging around a circa 1989 cell phone compared to that).

I am definitely happy with this. Haven't had a cig all day.

4. Loving the eCigs

I just started them a couple of weeks ago. I have about three cartons of analogs left, because I was going out to the reservation and stocking up on Native brands every six weeks or so, making smoking not at all expensive in terms of money. But I'm totally losing interest in finishing them. I prefer the eCigs and I haven't yet even dabbled in the fancier ones. I started with a disposable Logic and then just got the little kit with the rechargable battery and charger at the convenience store. I'm thinking of trying the Volt down the road. Not sure if I want to get into anything more complicated for now. But either way, I'm thrilled with the harm reduction approach. No secondhand smoke, no tars, no ashes, butts or smell and the nicotine can be reduced over time. Wish I'd tried them sooner.

5. The Volt was my first ecig (auto style)

I love it! I use my 1100 X2 volt auto batteries when I'm out and about, and use Vision Spinner 1300 batteries when I am at home. I use the T-3 clearmomizers from Smokeless Image on the Volt X2s. They are the best...easy to see when you need to fill, and filling with a needle tip bottle is a breeze. Smokeless Image has the best customer service around, and I don't hesitate at all about recommending them. Good luck with the ecigs! I'm sorry I didn't start using them sooner!

6. I just ordered my very first kit with a Vision Spinner 1300

and an eGo-C Twist 650. I also got a T3 clearomizer and a Vision Clearomizer 2.0. Along with other doodads and a few different liquids to try.

It makes me happy to see you are using some of those products because I really took a leap of faith when I placed my order. I've been at the e-cig forum (that place is amazing) and read a ton but I still have no idea what to expect when this stuff arrives at my door (tomorrow? Fri?).

But I have tried a couple cheap disposables and one Greensmoke something-or-other that my dad had that looks like a cigarette, and they were awful to me. It also seemed so wasteful.

Now that I know a lot more about it I *really* want to try this out. So I figured I should go big, try a few quality items, get something that I am more likely to enjoy and that I can mess around with, try new parts, a million liquids...

The only bad part is that this will probably cost more than smoking for me, I've been a hand-roller forever, so it's cheap. But if I finally figure out a way to quit smoking it will be worth every penny, and probably cheaper in the long run (health!) anyway.

You are starting out with quality equipment that will really save you money in the long run. I sold myself on vaping by telling myself that I would be saving a "ton of money" by switching. Fat chance! HAHAHA!! I spend just as much (probably more) than I did on regular cigs, but it's well worth it for me. I'm so glad I made the switch.

You may want to check out Mount Baker Vapor (http://www.mtbakervapor.com) They have a large selection of good ejuices, and you can't beat the price. I found that I needed to order a variety of different kinds of juices when I started to see which type of juice I liked best (bakery, coffee, candy, fruit...the list goes on). With their low prices I could pick a few up at a time to see which ones clicked with me.

I got my kit Thursday afternoon and since I got it charged at around 5:30p that day, I have only had 7 analog cigs. In nearly 40 hours (granted, that includes about 14 hrs of sleep). Yesterday, being the first full day of vaping, I had 5 analogs all day - from 5am to 11pm. That's all.

I'm hardly even trying yet. And each analog tastes/feels weirder than the last.

*Except* for the first cig of the day, which I had in analog form both yesterday and today, and those I enjoyed - I think if I try to fully quit the analogs, that will be the hardest one to let go of.

Anyway, even if I stick with a couple analogs a day for now, that's still like a 80% reduction of smoking.

These things are unbelievable. Totally worth splurging on a quality start-up set. And I've ordered a juice sampler and some atomizers/cartridges so I can sample flavors without using my clearos.

I'm gonna keep kicking this thread since this forum is so slow, may as well keep e-cig talk in one place...

I'm on...what..day 6 now? The last 2 days I had 2 cigs a day. I haven't even begun actually testing my willpower. It's just like all the anecdotes I didn't want to believe out of fear of failure - cigs taste gross, the vaping is fun and satisfying, it's too good to be true, LOL.

I'm so on board this e-cig train it is amazing.

Even if I keep vaping for a year or three or the rest of my fucking life it is better than smoking.

For now I'm just gonna inch along and celebrate all the cigarettes I am NOT smoking rather than obsessing about the 1 or 2 I have in a day. It is still massive harm reduction and for those of us who struggle so hard with kicking the nicotine, these e-cigs are like magic. And I can see the day - maybe tomorrow, maybe next month, but soon - when I don't have one at all. Ever again.

I think what makes this different than other ways of quitting smoking is that the fear of failure is so much less paralyzing. Whenever I've tried to quit, and had one cigarette, it ruined everything and was like starting over. Leading to giving up on quitting. With this, I am always getting my fix. WITHOUT SMOKING. And that's what is killing us - the smoking, not the nicotine.

Someday I see myself reducing the nic level to negligible, cutting it out entirely, and putting this device down for good. But in the meantime, however long it is, I am healing from the decades of smoking unfiltered cigs. I am reducing my likelihood of cancer, COPD, and almost all other associated problems from smoking cigs.

Fucking magic, I tell ya!

I like the system, but also just picked up a cartomizer also for the times I know I'll be using the same flavor for awhile. It fits the battery so it wasn't a large financial investment. Still in the process of looking at juice reviews, I can't believe the number of places, but I like the fact that the liquids are made in the states so you are supporting small American businesses when buying them.

After I started a few weeks ago, i had an analogue because my battery was dead and it tasted like poison, in my mouth and body. my first e-cig was from a 7/11 and it sucked. didn't pacify my nicotine craving (levels/throat hit) nor flavor.

I wouldn't start with convenient store type. Strongly recommend going to a vape shop for an
in-person guidance, on hand samplings and various kits/set ups. I would also suggest selecting a clearomizer as opposed to a the cartomizer.. It's important to be able to visually see how much liquid you've got, when it's time for a refill etc. it also flavors better, imo.

I now have two e-cig mods, three clearomizers, 3 or 4 cartomizers which I bought initially and too many liquids. LOL!

25. ecigs do not replace the taste of analog cigs for me

Been using ecigs since December 2013 and haven't had an analog cig since Feb 2014, after almost 50 years of smoking. In the beginning smokers almost always look for ecig flavors that mimic tobacco and I did that too. But very quickly I found out that the other flavors are much more tasty than any tobacco flavors. Right now my favorite flavors are Pina Colada, Thin Mints and Thug Juice (berries with menthol) by Mt Baker Vapor and Malibu and Kringle's Curse (peppermint) by Halo. I tried a few analogs (maybe 10 total) after I started vaping but they no longer had any taste for me and were very dull and bland.

20. Glad to see this thread.. I have questions for the more experienced

1 - Regarding sanitation/cleaning.. I've spent a fair amount of time trying to get a definitive answer/recommendation on how to approach, and as importantly how often. (This question was never approached at the vape shop)

2- How can I tell if the liquid I have is vg or pg (and what the hell does "P" stand for anyway?) I was under the impression that it all the liquids contain both vg/pg (polyglyceryl?) but I read in a forum that that isn't the case.. (really?) and that serious damage can be done to the equipment if using one or the other .. something about high sugar/fruit content?

3- And how do i know if my clearomizers is heating up too much?

I've seen advise regarding using Vodka or Rubbing Alcohol for cleaning.. but then I've run into all manner of cautionaries using terminology and equipment parts that I'm NOT knowledgeable about. So I haven't done any cleaning, and I'm very anxious regarding continued use.

I need straight simple to understand advice/guidance from anyone on this board that would know. I've gone to e-cig forum discussion sites and have spent the better part of this day trying to get to these answers to my questions, but the forum reads like tech sites read to luddites.

kind of frustrating.. any help on this would be soo appreciated!

It works great. I use Everclear and distilled water to clean my cartomizers. The only ones I really clean though are the ones that I fill with juice, find I don't like the taste of the juice, and want to reuse them for another juice flavor. The majority of the time I use cartos I have previously filled with my favorite juices. When not using them, I put them in travel size q-tip holders I found at the drugstore. I can fit 4 to 5 cartos per case. I rarely clean the majority of my cartos, since they only last me a week or two anyway before I have to pitch it and use a new one.

I clean my batteries once a week by running a Q-Tip around the top and inside of the battery connection (I use 1300 Spinner batteries and a ProVari, and I clean them both the same).

Question 2: 100% PG (Propylene Glycol- a sugar alcohol) juice is very thin compared to 100% Vg (Vegetable Glycerine) juice. I find my cartos don't last as long with 100% VG juice, so I usually use a 50/50 blend of PG and VG. I don't think that using 100% VG will hurt your equipment, but you will burn through cartos faster.

26. My ecig rig

I vaped the Halo Triton exclusively for just over a year before recently (about a month ago) switching to the Aspire Nautilus and Nautilus Mini tanks on an Aspire CF Variable Voltage battery and an Eleaf Istick box mod. While the Halos were quite good they were proprietary and you could not use other tanks or batteries with them. The improvement with the Nautilus is incredible, much more taste and much more vapor. I am now off analogs (except for maybe a half dozen slip ups until last February) for almost 14 months, after almost 50 years of smoking. Nothing else worked for me in quitting and since I started vaping both my wife and son have followed suit and also are about a year off analogs.

27. That is exactly what I'm going to order next week.

I quit smoking / started vaping a week ago with the Aspire ETS tank and a cheap adjustable voltage battery. It can put out a pretty good bit of vapor and good flavor but I need more juice capacity and more battery life. The eLeaf and Nautilus seem like the way to go. I'm going with the 30 watt battery since it can fire the sub ohm tanks and I'd like to try the Atlantis or Kanger Sub Tank eventually.

Between 2 packs of Marlboros every day and my stupid Red Bull habit, I was wasting over $400 per month!

28. I hit a year recently

I still can't believe I'm finally a nonsmoker. I'm still using the device I started with, the itaste vv3, but I've tried a bunch of different toppers, and gone thru lots of juices. I am surprised when I see folks still smoking, but I guess the bad press gets around (Big Pharma and Big Tobacco).
