Yes. I can do it. I just need to cheat once a week. applegrove Nov 2021 #2
You could balance those carbs with fiber, like multigraincracker Nov 2021 #13
Good idea. I keep forgetting about fiber. Right you are. applegrove Nov 2021 #14

Remember, if you don't enjoy your diet and allow flexibility you might start resenting it and that will make it harder to maintain it.

long term and my doctor told me she could give me insulin as a type two diabetic or, and I piped in, I would avoid starches and sugars. I was eating a lot of sugars so my insulin still works. I tested myself and I am low after the pasta. I'll test myself again. So I'm doing this to be healthy but am not officially diabetic. Not doing the keto diet per se. It will end up making me lose weight but I still eat carrots and other veggies that are high in sugar. I don't need to go to that extreme.

Watch videos by Dr. Berg & Dr. Sten Ekberg on YouTube.

They have many videos with studies that go over low-card diets and its effects on T1 & T2 diabetes, liver repair, brain function, autophagy (which even cleared up floaters in my eyes), high BP. Folks I knew were able to completely get off of insulin and diabetes-related meds by doing a Keto-40 diet. With T1, less carbs & sugars means less insulin is required.

I also had a fatty liver, which completely repaired itself after 1.5 years. I did intermittent fasting by sticking to a typical 18-6 fast, with occasional OMAD days. Once a month a 3-day fast to really kick in the autophagy.

so not a strict no carb diet. eat lots of veggies, nuts, peanut butter etc. but no pastas or rice and grains based stuff.

a dose of pasta might be considered bad if yer on a purist diet but otherwise its ok IMO

So if the quantities were within reason you might be ok.
And get a great nights sleep.

It’s made of heart of palm and is available in angel hair, fettucine, and a couple others. It’s very low carb and we find it a satisfying substitute.

I LOVE pasta, but on a ketogenic diet it's a big no-no.

I find that Konjac noodles work (more or less) for me... especially for a strong sauce like a tomato-based spaghetti sauce.

If you are more of a DIY type, this recipe actually works really well. It's a neutral flavor, but with a great texture. It requires a bit of practice, but it's my go-to now for ramen and spaghetti.

A new company making some ready-made pasta called JaziLupini is coming online and I haven't tried yet (I have some on the way), but understand it is a very good substitute too.

But to encourage you, I have lost 150 lbs (!) so far on a keto diet and my blood sugars are in the normal range without medications, so I can say it is an effective diet!
