(29,832 posts)We are invited to two different Weiner Roasts tonight. I asked Loretta which one did she want to go to and she said both. So this should be interesting. One will have live music and a young crowd. She said we're going to it first and they won't notice an old couple leaving early. She's probably right.
Good Morning 🌞

(19,023 posts)I saw a tip to turn the hand grater on its side to grate. It was easier, so I will do it that way from now on.

(37,882 posts)I was just about to do some parmesan cheese, so timely tip.
There are also those graters where you put a piece of cheese in this little holder and turn the handle. Wow are those ever easy. Can't say I prefer it over hand grating but it's a nice option to have around the kitchen. Cleans up nicely in the D/W, too.
I have done the calculations and figured out that you save 50% by grating your own cheese. Prices based on Aldi.
Won't buy grated cheese because of all the stuff I've heard they put on it to keep it from clumping. If you grate it yourself when you need it, you don't have that problem. Of course, some people just wouldn't cook if they couldn't have that convenience.

I have several graters in my kitchen, but I use the old metal hand grater. I'm glad I tried the different position today. I didn't think it'd make that much difference, but it was a little easier, less tiring, less messy.
