I'm home with him because he has pneumonia. I've hardly slept in a week because I've been up with him through coughing and fever. He's feeling a bit better today. I took a little nap and let him watch tv.
He was watching nicktoons when I went to sleep and he was watching nicktoons when I woke up.
Anyway, he did not attribute his inquiry to anything he saw on tv and said he was just curious.
I said, "Well, yes I would have to say that's probably likely."
"Why?" he asked, amazed.
"Well." I said, "In general, people are really not as evolved and civilized as we like to think, and I really don't think it would take that much external pressure to turn many of us into an angry mob that would do all sorts of horrible things."
How would you answer a question like that?
