Well, it is pretty chilly. Maybe they are just keeping the seat warm for me.

(24,537 posts)every time that I got out of it. Then he clung to it and refused to move to let me back on it.
Also, sometimes when I was in the chair, he jumped up behind me and braced himself against the back of the chair with his paws while pushing his back against me, trying to force me out if it.
There are several other chairs that he could have chosen, but he preferred my favorite one. A power struggle over who was in charge.
Ember is just the opposite. She moves to make room for me the minute she sees me coming. Then she rubs my face.
Leo was a very affectionate snuggler when I went to bed, but was pushy about territory when awake.

(38,084 posts)My cat used to do that on rare occasions, but not consistently.
Regardless, can't help but love 'em to pieces.

(24,537 posts)He was such a character. Despite his territorial thing over the chair, he was THE most affectionate cat I have ever known. When I sat on a side chair at the table, he would sit on an end chair, perpendicular to me, and reach his paw under the table to rest it on my legs, just to maintain physical contact. When I sat on the couch, he rested his head in my lap and tried to stop me from getting up.
Always greeted everyone, animal or human, stranger or friend, with a body rub.
Vets fell in love with his sweetness and cooperation.

Leo sounds like he was a wonderful and funny feline. We recently had to put down our Alpha Floof who ran the house and made all other inhabitants his minions. He was such a character too. I miss him every day.

(24,537 posts)how vocally expressive he was. He made little sounds, like muttering sometimes, other times a deeper, grumbling noise, and still other times, a series of meows as if talking. He did this in response to things going on around him and the tone was always appropriate to what was happening.
If I had a friend over and we were talking, Leo sat down next to us and "talked." His tonal inflection so often matched what we were saying that we cracked up laughing. He picked up our mood from the tone of our voices and mimicked the mood in his tone.
Or, if he was frustrated over something, like when I would not let him have some food he wanted or do something he wanted to do, he would run to his scratching post and take out his frustrations on it with furious scratching, making his angry muttering sounds the whole time.
I called him my editorialist, always giving me his opinion.

(8,824 posts)I have had very chatty and expressive kitties over the years. The wide range of sounds they use to communicate is truly amazing.
