If you got any friends in NC, now would be a rilly good time to call em and tell em

to go do some work to defeat Amendment One

Some folk do need a push, and the clock's tickin: early votin ends Saturday, and Tuesday is Election Day

This really happened:

I recently went to the coalition office for one of my regular phone-bank shifts to turn out our voters and recruit volunteers. And as I arrived, another regular told me: We finally contacted so-and-so (somebody around here who I actually know)

Yeah? I asked What did she say?

The reply? She said she's too busy to volunteer, and she gave us your number

"Let somebody else do it" is a widespread attitude -- and it doesn't help

I knocked doors yesterday, using some pretty good lists: in two hours of knockin, I overwhelmingly encountered opponents of Amendment One ( )

But every single person begged off from volunteerin to defeat the amendment: all claimed to be too busy

Democracy's not a spectator sport, kids
