Democratic Party platform didn't quite say "Legalize It" but came close

2. I'm glad this platform exists, but damn, how hard is it to actually LEAD on a

position rather than simply trailing along behind years of waffling and half-hearted statements about marijuana?? Good god, how many frickin' studies does one substance need? There are thousands of studies already. There are frickin' POLICE DEPARTMENTS standing up and saying it should be legalized.

And as far as I'm concerned, the model of giving the growing and sale of marijuana to BUSINESSES without allowing individuals to grow their own in unlimited quantities is disgusting. Do we do that with tomatoes? Apples? Cukes? Does everything have to be filtered through a gd BUSINESS? If we want cartels out of the MJ business, we cannot allow businesses, period, to control the growth and sale.

6. I'd like to see that, but homebrewing is more expensive than homegrowing

Home brewers do it for the craft, not to save money. Even though it's legal and untaxed, the percentage of beer drinkers who brew their own is tiny. And that means no motivation for Big Beer to try to ban it.

Home growers could save a lot of money, including taxes, by doing it themselves. If it's legal, you can even grow it outdoors, which can be almost zero work. The District of Columbia has this model (along with other business-unfriendly rules, like you can give it away but you can't buy or sell it). But that's just DC. I expect Big Cannabis to fight it everywhere else.

4. If you drive on I70 in Colorado

there are signs telling you where the dispensaries are, and there's even a cell phone app for that. If you drive a little too far east or west, you can be arrested for doing what was legal a few miles back. At minimum, if this is legal in Colorado, possession should be decriminalized. Maybe Amazon.com would be interested in the market. It generates a lot of income for Colorado.
