Spanish-language Films Attract Columbus (OH) Audiences

For the sixth year, the Wexner Center for the Arts will examine films either from or set in Latin American countries with its 'Cinema Latino' series ...

Movies from seven countries are on the schedule --including works of animation, comedy, documentary, drama and science fiction. Most are in Spanish with English subtitles.

Though aimed at cinephiles, the series also attracts members of Columbus' growing Latino community, Filipi said.

"It's a bit of an acknowledgment of the way Columbus is changing and the region is changing," he said. "There are many more Spanish-speaking people here than there were 10 years ago, and that's part of the success of the series ...
