Are You There?

Are You There

The eyes are vacant
dull and unseeing.
Are you there? The
essence gone.

The life drifted away
the light dimmed.
Just a remnant,
much like fabric
left over from a
finished garment.

Where is the life
that once was? Here
then not. How dare
life be so engaged
as to diminish a life
important.

I object your honor.
Objection overuled.
Thank you judge.
Judge of all, judge of
everyone going forth
everyone hoping for
forgiveness. yet not
able to show remorse.

Your honor, I am sorry.
Sorry that I am now in
this system, that which
labels me. I know not that
which I am accused of.

I am innocent. I was a
ship without sail nor rudder.
I had no oars, no way
to return to shore.

The dead fish eyes,
the dead eyes follow
I repent for death. The
oars floating upon the
water, floating,
the essence gone.

I always second guess myself. Sometimes I like things I write and sometimes I discount the efforts.
