Finished writing my first story

Well its only the first season of a 20 issue story. I'm quite excited. But I have no idea where to go next. It's a fantasy/slice of life story. I wrote in the style of how I imagine a graphic novel would be. Like a comic series.

I'm excited for it. I've been writing it over the course of a year now. I just don't know where to go next with it.

here's a couple more ideas.

They actually taught this in a Creative Writing class I took in College.

It's like a brain storming (or word association) session, except you're the only one doing it. Here are two examples:

One is to write a word on a paper, like school, and then list every word or phrase you associate with it, including synonyms, antonyms, colors, memories, adjectives, thoughts, perceptions, beliefs etc. and then try to link the words to form a new idea.

Another way is to type the word in a search engine (or any of the words associated with it), do a search, and sometimes what comes up, can also give you ideas.

Keep an open mind and think OUTSIDE the box. In other words, don't confine yourself to conventional ways of looking at something, but instead, try to come up with extreme and completely opposite ways of looking at something.

19. Literary magazines

Might I suggest going to a bookstore and picking up a couple of literary magazines. Especially genre specific publications where your sci-fi fantasy story might be of interest. In the front pages (or occasionally back pages) of the magazine there will be submission information to inform those looking to be published in the magazine on how to submit their work. It usually involves providing a SASE and a few bucks for handling. Good luck!

I probably wouldn't have it more than an ebook. I don't think I'd be that creative for paperback or hardcover books

If not, reformat as a script, like a screenplay, if you intend to make it a graphic novel.

welcomes stories by new authors. They don't pay, but authors don't pay to submit either, and readers don't have to buy subscriptions to read there.

At the top of this page, you'll see different story categories.

You should receive an e-mail confirming receipt of the submission. If you do not receive this email within a week, you should assume the story has not reached us.

Some people in my local writers group say it often takes longer than a week to receive a submission receipt from EofW, and maybe a month or more to hear if your story has been accepted for publication. EoW doesn't send rejection notifications, so I guess authors just have to wait, and after a couple of months or so, if they don't get an email from EofW saying their story has been accepted for publication, they can probably assume it wasn't.

I've been thinking of submitting a story there. It might not get published, but what have I got to lose?
