Related: About this forumAny here have experience with motor assist wheels?
I have access to a trik that I was thinking of rigging to gather up trash on my road-one bin for aluminum cans and the other for trash. The reason for the motor assist would be to get this single speed monster up the hills when loaded. I know there are some that power the front wheel. That seems to be the easy way to go.
Any suggestions would be well received.

(12,304 posts)My route doesn't have a lot of traffic but what it has are sometimes scary; dump trucks, oil field vehicles and cattle trailers being pulled by fast pick ups. I want them to see me and if I get hit it was their intention.

(10,005 posts)This was my 75th birthday gift to myself, I used a kit from an outfit called Hill Topper who was very helpful and they offered a full kit or you can buy the pieces you need.
I used their front wheel with the motor and got my own batteries, brake, and controller. Mine is 24v 250w brushless motor, but in Jan they are going to up the motor to 36v 350w.
Here is my trike (without rear basket):

(12,304 posts)The pricing sounds quite reasonable. I may give it a go come spring. Spent all our extra money on grand kids.
