Any idea how to get a pigeon or dove out of my huge church with sky high ceilings?

I think he may have come in the church last Saturday after a huge wedding had just taken place. He may be one of those that are purchased for such events.

Anyway its been a week and he is known to swoop around in the middle of Mass and makes really loud pigeon cooing sounds from the choir loft.

I feel so sorry for him - any ideas?

but something similar to a feral cat/small animal trap with a weight bearing trigger baited with food may do the trick. Depending on the size of your community, there are what are colloquially known as 'critter gitters' who specialize in safely and humanely trapping wildlife to be released later.

Also there are commercially available traps (some cheap, some pricey) but I don't want to post any specific company -- also buying something might not be fast enough. Making an impromptu one is probably better anyway.
