Varied Thrush Calls

Females and youngsters have a browner tone. You might have heard their simple but almost haunting calls through the coniferous forests of the Pacific Northwest. In the summer, these birds forage for insects in wet, dark forests dominated by fir, hemlock, and spruce. In the winter, they may be found in a broader range of habitats, including parks and gardens where berries are abundant.

This bird looks similar to the American robin, but the robin lacks the facial, wing, and breast markings of the varied thrush.
