OK... I have no idea but I wanted to sound like a master gamer with my title

Although...

It does make me think of an old RPG called Magic Candle... I don't remember playing it (I'm pretty sure I never did) but I do remember my buddy Bill telling me how it had a cool story but it also required you to do all manner of mundane things and his example was 'resting'. This was normally done in RPG's of the time by pressing 'W' (wait) or 'R' (rest), and then you recovered all your hit points and spell points while some period of time passed. Instead, Magic Candle had you do a number of things.... While I forget exactly what all of those things were, this could fit.

Am I even close

There's already a big clue in the quote.

That really is all the material I can give to help.

Did I give it away? I hope not...
