Table top with miniatures

There was a discussion yesterday in GD regarding scale models and that included some talk of miniature gaming. I thought I would post something here today to allow that discussion to branch out a bit and see if any other table top miniature gamers are about, what they are playing and where else they are finding resources and ideas.

2. Greetings

I have gone strictly with 6mm as I rebuild my collections and use Facebook as well as The Miniatures Page among others.

Playing The Sword & The Flame, Age of Sail Pirates with Limeys & Slimeys Rules. Hope to expand to French & Indian War, ACW, WWI, WW2 and interwar period along with perhaps some home built robots for light hearted sci fi (those will not be 6mm). Prefer simple and fast playing games as opposed to long drawn out and slow moving ones with lots of rules.

3. Im statting some things up for Scrappers,

the new post-apoc SF game from Osprey. It’s a good system to bring out all those weird one-off minis and stuff from dead systems long gone, like my old Demonblade ShockForce armies.

I’m also using some old D&D prepainted minis with Ganesha Games Song of Blades and Heroes rules to game with my little boy. The rules are simple enough for a younger player to grasp but still have some tactical sophistication, and the prepaints are as tough as nails, safe for a kid who tends to drop things.

4. I have a few of the Osprey rules sets

for different eras and they seem pretty light hearted which I appreciate. I am sure that Scrappers will be as well. I may have to give them a look as I am working on a few kit bashed minis for a robot game (think a low end Rivets board game on the table top).

5. Warhammer/40K here, though I haven't played an actual game in a while.

D&D is always a good standby, as are any other beer'n'pretzel tabletop games. I'm a huge fan of Underworld, but that didn't really take off as well as it could have.
