Fire festival celebrates Norse heritage of Shetland in Viking style

After a day of celebrations marking the island's Norse heritage, the Up Helly Aa festival ended in true Viking style.

Lerwick's fire festival, the largest in Europe, ended with a torchlight procession through the town before the traditional burning of a Viking galley.

Although the rainy weather did not halt proceedings, the longboat had to be moved from it's normal spot at the Pier due to high winds.

It was the culmination of months of hard works by the Viking squads that take part.

and that flaming arrows light up my small boat, that I may be cremated.

I still don't know if I can get away with it, considering all the laws and rules about large fires and public water ways, etc.
If I can't do it on water, then my second option is to find someplace, like a ranch or private field, that will allow my pyre to burn.

Of course, my sister will probably just humor me with assurances that she will have it taken care of, and then just send my body to be cremated at the nearest funeral home. My little sister can be so mean

She didn't inherit the Norse traits from our family like I did, so she just doesn't understand but she is still my little sister - Oh Well

Anyway, thanks once again for the great links (this one and the others you just posted)
