1. Turtles are so cool

Especially the giant Galapagos.

We have box turtles here, peaceable and unobtrusive. Always sad to find an empty shell because you know a raccoon has feasted on it.

REALLY hate the snapping turtles though. They show up once a year for a couple weeks, presumably for mating season. They are mean as hell and can get pretty big. I'm always concerned about one of our other nosy critters getting nailed. I think they also took out some of our ducks on the pond.

When we were stupid kids, my older brother picked one up by its tail, and it nearly ripped his kneecap off. .
