Kiel Universitys Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1266 is looking into the nutrition of Trypillia mega-sites, situated in the forest-steppe northwest of the Black Sea, which covers todays Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
These mega-sites, dating back six thousand years, were sprawled across vast areas of up to 320 hectares and housed the worlds largest communities of the time. They had a population of about fifteen thousand residents.
These mega-sites are considered Europes oldest cities, predating even the urbanization of Mesopotamia. The mystery of their food supply has long puzzled researchers.
Previously, it was understood that smaller Neolithic settlements relied on subsistence farming for sustenance. The CRC 1266 at Kiel University is now at the forefront of unraveling the nutritional secrets of these ancient mega-sites, according to Phys.org.

(6,100 posts)I'd never heard about these settlements til today. I'm very surprised that this predates Mesopotamian culture! Makes me wish we had time travel.
The more I learn about Ukraine's history and culture, the more respect I have for their fight to exist.

Our bodies can manufacture protein if needed and the right combination of grains such as legumes and rice, for example, are consumed together.
What seems preposterous are all these Big Foot meal "theoreticians." They claim Big foot could hunt down animals by running. (I am assuming Big Foot would be an offshoot of Gigantopithecus. Sadly I cannot accept those ideas, for primates tend to be gregarious and they would need a pretty large group to maintain genetic viability through the epochs.) When a 1,000 pound primate runs, it hits the ground with each footstep and sends out vibrations that would alert any animals grazing that something big this way comes. Now trees and bamboo cannot escape and they will be munched upon, leaves if nothing else.
