(11,407 posts)And came to the realization that being against abortions, wanting every fertilized egg or zygote to be incubated to birth is based solely on religion.
There is no scientific evidence, no provable fact, that using modern medicine, pills or a facility to intentionally end a pregnancy will create or cause any problems. Yeah, it's a decision a woman has to make sometimes. But a decision that really only affects the woman and her family. There is no intrinsic value to forcing women to incubate every zygote to birth.
It's just the ignorance of certain religions being forced onto nonbelievers and codified into law.
Just another atrocity we can lay at the feet of religion.

(20,987 posts)It's about controlling women, and protecting male privilege. Religion is one of the great tools for that, but without religion, there'd be some other bullshit reason advanced to achieve the same end.

(11,407 posts)I was watching this talk by David Graeber. He's a University professor out of Birmingham.
He basically explains how agriculture got its start off the slave labor of women. In fact, in certain ancient societies slave was a word only used for women. To have a male slave was considered impossible. That's why multiple wives were considered a good thing.....more slave labor.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
