Hebrew writings. Jesus denied this in his wine cask metaphor. Not one parable's message is connected to the old testament. We know early church men added old testament references because they told us so. But, tying in Christian writings to the old testament lends the Jesus biography historicity. And prevents Christians from having an unclouded appraisal of their scriptures' meaning. It's a mess.
