Anti-GMOer Latham Attacks Kevin Folta With Trumpish Dishonesty
http://kfolta.blogspot.com/2016/10/fake-debates-bogus-tribunals-hallmarks.htmlCheck out the comments. It appears that Latham actually responded, though there is no way to know if it is him, of course, as another "Jonathan Latham" pointed out.
The antis really don't get how Trump like they act.

bring to our attention peer-reviewed scientific research to back up their claims. But it really hurts their cause to have people like this on their side. Most of the anti-GMO stuff I see on the web is overblown and hysterical, and based on anecdotal "evidence." I'm open to evidence, and the possibility that GMO crops could reduce biological diversity concerns me. But propaganda and conspiracy theories are just plain bogus.

(24,638 posts)The choice of seeds, herbicides and other pesticides are all farming practices.
The diversity issue is relevant because if all farmers all over the world start to use exactly the same seeds we will end up with an intense mono culture that could crash if there are no other genotypes of seeds available if and when a GMO seed type is faced with a new disease that wipes them all out. That's the danger of low diversity.

That has nothing to do with monoculture. How is this so hard to understand?

(24,638 posts)...range of varieties (of corn for example) with one GMO herbicide-resistant variety, creates a monoculture. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Do you have any idea of the number of non-GMO corn varieties there are? Wake up, dude! Learn a little biology before you go off half cocked!

Got it.

When I pointed out that you are in error to suggest that biological diversity is not relevant to the issue of GMO crops, and that anyone who thinks it is is incorrectly conflating GMO with farming practices (the use of GMO crops IS a farming practice), you suggest I'm "just pretending" and "not actually responding to the content of your posts." Very odd. I'm not sure if you have an eyesight problem or a reading comprehension problem. Or perhaps a cognition issue? Good luck with all of that.
