(106,360 posts)IMO. I don't think it is anti-social to enjoy a holiday at home alone on occasion.
Some years I've just wanted to use the day to reflect and relax, sans all the commotion. This is one and I will happily greet those with whom I come into contact (dog park or on my 5 mile walk this morning), but also be glad to skip the diet-destroying mega-feast and the stress of travel. I'll call family and friends today or tomorrow.
The only thing that bugs me is those who "feel sorry for me" and to whom I feel I have to imply I'm spending the day with others.
Happy Thanksgiving to all--whether with big crowds of friends/family or enjoying on your own!

(4,299 posts)I'm going to a very small family gathering and I will still be last to arrive and first to leave.
Happy furkey and pie day.

(2,013 posts)I always volunteered to work Thanksgiving so that my co-workers that wanted to do the family events could get the day off. It also gave me an excuse to get out of attending the big production myself. I would just make a turkey for my family on the following weekend. Nice.
Now my husband and I just go and have dinner with a small group of friends that we only get to see today. Local, pot luck and get to catch up with people we miss. Nice!
Everyone have a good day however you choose to spend it!
